SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN - In Theaters June 1, 2012
SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN Synopsis: In the epic action-adventure Snow White and the Huntsman, Kristen Stewart (Twilight) plays the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen (Oscar® winner Charlize Theron) out to destroy her. But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the young woman threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman (Chris Hemsworth, Thor) dispatched to kill her. Sam Claflin (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) joins the cast as the prince long enchanted by Snow White’s beauty and power. The breathtaking new vision of the legendary tale is from Joe Roth, the producer of Alice in Wonderland, producer Sam Mercer (The Sixth Sense) and acclaimed commercial director and state-of-the-art visualist Rupert Sanders. Nick Frost, who stars as one of Snow White’s trusty dwarf friends, tells MTV, “It was our last day on Friday, and she has kind of a big rabble rousing speech, and she’s great. She’s fun on set. She’s a fantastic actress.” Read more here: Just Jared Jr You just finished filming another movie. Tell me about your experience on Snow White and the Huntsman — or, as the fans call it, SWATH.
SWATH! It was great. I saw a picture of you and your fellow dwarfs in your dwarf gear and your dwarf hair. Yeah, they shaved me bald every day just to put hair on me, which was weird. It was like, well, I had hair anyway, and you shaved it all off… to then put a wig on. You’re in great company with the other seven dwarfs. What was that cast like? It was fantastic! I got to hang out with Toby Jones, Eddie Marsan, Johnny Harris, Bob Hoskins, Ray Winstone, for God’s sake. I got to just sit around and listen to those guys tell stories. I like the idea of Kristen Stewart, of all people, sitting in the middle of that group of men — and also the colliding of worlds, your universe and fan base overlapping with Twilight. Exactly! I was sitting next to Bob Hoskins and Bella Swan! Please tell me you and Bob Hoskins and Kristen Stewart talked Twilight on set. Not really. I think she’d be pretty sick to the bloody back teeth of listening about Twilight. On set she’s another actress, and a lot of the time actors just talk about nothing. Talk about shit, they just chew the fat. That’s what you do! And did you sign on for multiple SWATH films as well? Three, yeah. We’ll see where it goes. We were talking about it on set the other day, where it would start and what it would be. We’ll have to see how well it does, I guess. But I think we’d all love to do another one. We had a real laugh every day. Movieline When a film takes nearly thirty years to come to fruition, a lot of information gets shared along the way -- so even before "The Adventures of Tintin" comes out this week, most of us know not only the story, but also what's next. Still, director Steven Spielberg, his visual effects supervisor Joe Letteri, and cast members Jamie Bell and Nick Frost had some more to share when they gathered in New York to talk to press about 'Tintin,' where they recounted the project's long path from page to screen and what Peter Jackson contributed in his role as a producer.
Getting the rights and telling an internationally beloved story took thirty years. Spielberg's first exposure to Tintin was in French coverage of "Raiders of the Lost Ark," back in 1981. When he read reviews of the film, the French critics kept referencing the Belgium comic book series, noting the likenesses between the globetrotting adventures of Indiana Jones and those of Tintin. Spielberg had never heard of Tintin, so he got copies of the books ("which was not easy to do in 1981 in the U.S.," he joked), and promptly started reading them, starting with "The Seven Crystal Balls." Read more here: The Playlist io9 recently caught up with actor Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz), who plays the pratfall-prone Inspector Thomson in Steven Spielberg's The Adventures of Tintin. Frost filled us on the motion-capture process, potential upcoming projects with longtime collaborator Simon Pegg, and what it's like to play a Thompson twin (and no, we're not referring to the ones who sang"Hold Me Now").
Thomson and Thompson have a very slapstick brand of humor in The Adventures of Tintin. What was it like filming their scenes on a motion-capture set? Simon [Pegg, who plays Thompson] and I spent three weeks just training. We had a guy there, Terry Notary [who played the aliens from Attack The Block], who's probably one of the finest movement coaches in the world, he's worked with Cirque du Soleil. They hired a studio out down in Culver City and every day we went for six hours and we took our jackets and bowler hats and canes and we walked in unison! Everything we did was exactly in time.
